How to Watch IPTV on a Samsung Smart TV (Tizen)

Samsung is the best-selling TV brand in the US, so "how do I get IPTV on my Samsung TV?" is one of the questions we hear most. The short answer: you install an IPTV player from Samsung's own app store, then add your subscription to it. Here's how, step by step.

How IPTV works on Samsung TVs

Samsung Smart TVs run Samsung's own operating system, Tizen. Android apps such as TiviMate don't run on Tizen, so you need a player built for Samsung TVs. You'll find several in the Apps section of your TV. Many of them work the same way:

  1. You install the player on the TV.
  2. The app shows a device ID or MAC address and a website address.
  3. You go to that website on your phone or computer and upload your playlist (M3U link or Xtream details) against that ID.
  4. The TV app reloads and your channels appear.

Some of these players are free; others offer a free trial and then charge a small one-time or yearly activation fee to the app developer. That fee is separate from your IPTV subscription.

Step-by-step setup

  1. Press the Home button on your Samsung remote and open Apps.
  2. Use the search icon and type IPTV. Look at the ratings and the developer name before installing.
  3. Install your chosen player and open it. Write down the device ID / MAC address shown on screen.
  4. On your phone or laptop, open the player's official website, find the "upload playlist" page and enter the ID plus your M3U link or Xtream login (we send these after you order).
  5. Go back to the TV and restart the app. Your channels, movies and series should load.
Can't find a player for your model? Older Samsung TVs (roughly pre-2017) have a limited app store. The simplest fix is a cheap streaming stick—see our Firestick guide or Google TV guide.

If your TV is recent and the app runs smoothly, stay with it. If it feels slow, a stick usually gives a better experience.

Tips for smooth playback on Samsung

  • Connect the TV with an Ethernet cable if possible—see Wi-Fi vs Ethernet for IPTV.
  • Turn off Auto Motion Plus for sports if you notice a "soap opera" effect.
  • Keep the TV software updated in Settings → Support → Software Update.
  • If channels buffer, read our buffering fixes.

Frequently asked questions

Can I install TiviMate on a Samsung TV?

No. TiviMate is Android-only and Samsung TVs run Tizen. Use a Samsung-compatible player or add an Android TV / Google TV stick.

Why does the app ask for a MAC address?

Many Samsung IPTV players link your playlist to the TV's unique device ID, so you upload the playlist on their website instead of typing a long link with the remote.
